Gone are the days when cyber cafes in Nakuru made a lot of money from offering browsing services only.

This is due to the fact that mobile phones have flooded the Kenyan market with the cheapest mobile phone going at less than Sh1,000.

The said phone provides internet services, an act that has reduced the number of customers that visit cyber cafes.

In order to attract more customers at their cyber cafes in Nakuru, some went ahead to reduce their charges from Sh2 per minute to 50 cents per minute and although this helped a bit, it hasn’t been too successful.

This is where other innovative ideas come in. In Nakuru, some cyber cafes are now offering a couple of more services such as renewing driving licenses, printing services, typing and printing services to name but a few.

However, this is still not enough considering that there are bills such as electricity bill, rent and workers salaries which may prove to be an uphill task.

That is why cyber cafes should now embrace other businesses such as burning movies. This is a very catch business that is guaranteed to bring one a lot of customer.

This is because a CD is only sold for Sh50 and since both the young and the old love movies; they are bound to purchase more and more movies each passing day.

Secondly, cyber cafes should have a section at their cyber cafes where they can allow some customers to watch movies at a slightly lower price than the one that is charged for burning a movie on a CD say Sh3.

This is guaranteed to bring in more customers as the owner would only require to write on a board which movie will be shown and at what time.

He will then charge the amount stated before allowing the customers to access the place where the movie will be watched.

Cyber owners should also consider giving their customers free stuff such as a free soda after using a certain amount of money at the cyber. Kenyans love free gifts and this would easily attract a lot more customers which would in turn mean more profit for the cyber owner.

By not embracing new and innovative ways of boosting their businesses, cyber owners in Nakuru may as well decide to close shop as they may start incurring losses fast.
