Gikaria has alleged that Nakuru residents have been abandoned by the senator who does not show concern when it comes to matters relating to the county.

“We elected a senator who is never seen. I will petition Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro to explain whether Mungai was on leave or he died. If he is dead, let us be shown the grave,” Gikaria said.

Speaking in Nakuru on Monday, the lawmaker slammed Mungai for not attending county meetings that were especially graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.

Gikaria noted that the senator did not attend the first ever Madaraka Day celebration that were held outside Nairobi.

Due to Mungai's alleged absentism, Gikaria called upon the Nakuru residents to elect dedicated leaders who will be representing them fully.

The lawmaker further endorsed Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika to vie for the senatorial seat in the next general election.

“She has done great in her work at the assembly and therefore let us vote her in the Senate to see great change,” Gikaria said.

Senator Mungai has been on the record stating that he will vie for the gubernatorial seat in 2017 in a bid to ouster the incumbent Kinuthia Mbugua.
