Elderly people in Nakuru County have accused their administrators for ‘eating’ their money.
For now elderly people in the county want to know the criteria the government uses to share the fund.
Speaking on Thursday in Nakuru, Rift Valley Council of Elders spokesman Gilbert Kabage said that the fund set aside by the government to benefit the elderly is ending up in the pockets of selfish people in the government.
"The many billions that the Labour Cabinet Secretary have been talking about is going to the very people entrusted to help us. This is an injustice," Kabage said.
David Kuria of Human Rights Network based in Nakuru has added his voice on the matter saying that the fund has been entangled in corruption.
"Many elderly people have come to us complaining about the fund and when they dare talk they are told they will be struck off the register," said Kuria.
Kuria has now recommended Labour ministry to investigate the matter and appropriate action taken against those embezzling the fund.
