Simon Mwangi, a former police officer who was retired from the service on medical grounds after being involved in an accident while on duty, is calling on the government to step in and ensure he is compensated.
Addressing press in Nakuru on Tuesday, Mwangi said since the accident, that he was involved in along Bura-Ijara road, his life has never been the same and that the government seems to have neglected him.
“When I got involved in the accident I was not paid despite trying every effort in vain. I was even told that the signal was not sent at that time. I just call on government to listen to my prayer and pay me my dues,” he said.
Sentiments echoed by Mwangi’s wife Judy who says since the accident in 1993 life has not been easy struggling with medication as well as ensuring the family moves on.
She adds that they have two children in University and college and with the addition of medical bills life is tough for them.
Her appeal as a mother is to President Uhuru Kenyatta to step in and ensure that her husband is compensated since he was retired on medical grounds and he has received no penny for the Service he had offered to the government.
“My husband was involved in accident in 1993 and since then he has suffered a lot. We have two children in University and college now we add the medical bills. May President hear my cry and come to my rescue as a mother so that my husband can be compensated,” she said.
The future of Mwangi’s family now rests in the hands of the President whom the family is calling to step in and ensure compensation.
