The depot located within Rongai serves the larger Subukia and Rongai sub-counties.

The farmers who turned up at the depot as early as 7.00am said that they have been visiting the depot to collect fertilizer which they have already paid for but they are always 'taken for a ride'.

They questioned why 'well connected' traders were able to collect as many as 40 bags of fertilizer yet those who had paid for as little as two bags are denied the commodity.

A spot check revealed that some farmers paid for the fertilizer way back in February but is yet to get the supply.

While calling on the government to investigate claims of corruption in the supply chain of the subsidized fertilizer, the farmers said that it was a waste of time for them to keep visiting the depot only for them to return home without any fertilizer.

Similar complains have also been raised by farmers in Nakuru town and Kabatini in Bahati.

Efforts to contact the depot manager Gitonga wa Kiumbani were futile as calls went unanswered while text messages were not replied to.
