John Gitonga, the founder of the association was on Friday elected interim chairman of the association in an event that was held at Nakuru Players Theatre. He said the new association in Nakuru would improve photography and production work in the county through networking among members.

He said the idea of forming an association to bring together local film and studio operators was arrived at after a realisation among stakeholders that there was a need for networking and sharing of resources and information in order to uplift local film and studio production standards.

"We did a lot of soul searching before coming up with the idea of an association. It was not easy for the founders to reach out to our colleagues and convince them as they were wary of business competition, but we are happy because we sold the idea,'' said Gitonga.

The veteran videographer and producer based in Nakuru town said that the association: Nakuru Film and Studio Producers Association (NAFISA) has been registered by the department of culture and social services as a community based organisation.

The association targets videographers, digital photographers, video producers, music producers, photo journalists, graphic designers and musicians among others.
