Nakuru County health sector is set to benefit from support by the Belgian government after it was granted aid to boost the sector.
Speaking on Wednesday when he received the delegation in his office, Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua lauded the support terming it a major step in addressing the prevalent cases of environmental challenges attributed to health waste.
“I am pleased to announce that our county is set to benefit from a medical waste treatment equipment. This comes with a laboratory and x-ray equipment. My government is pleased to receive the equipment which will go a long way in aiding the health sector,” Mbugua said.
Belgium ambassador to Kenya Roxanne de Bilderling who led the delegation thanked the county government for their relentless efforts in improving the health standards of the people in Nakuru.
“We are pleased to work with Nakuru County in our quest to impact the society. We pledge our support in more projects to raise the standards of living among Kenyans,” said Bilderling.
The governor also emphasised the need to partner with the Belgium Government in such sectors cutting across floriculture where Nakuru County is the leading producer of flowers and value addition in horticultural produce among other sectors touching on economic growth.
The delegation has toured the country to explore areas of collaboration and partnership to steer growth.
