Nakuru Senator James Mungai has asked Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s government to exercise accountability and use its funds for the intended projects.
Addressing Journalists at Nakuru county headquarters on Thursday, Mungai said that accountability will see residents benefit from government funds through projects.
The senator said that Nakuru County government receives huge funding and that it would be good if every cent is accounted for.
The Nakuru senator further urged the county government to adhere to procurement and financial regulations in all transactions being made.
He observed that most county governments across the country are flouting procurement and financial regulations.
“I urge Governor Mbugua to adhere to all laws pertaining to devolution mostly those touching on procurement and finances,” said senator Mungai.
He added that the senate will not hesitate to recommend arrest and prosecution of counties flouting regulations.
Mungai said that devolution was meant for the people and that funds being given to counties are meant for development and not for any other use.
