The Nakuru County Chief of Health Mr Samuel Mwaura has raised alarm over the grabbing of hospital land in the county.
Mwaura pointed out that his department had discovered the grabbing of the land in Molo and Bahati while they were doing the demarcation of the land for development.
“We only realised that the land was grabbed when we started initiatives to expand the dispensaries and recover the land,” he added.
Mwaura was responding to questions raised by Steve Gitukia of the Nakuru County Analysts. The youth had visited his office on Friday to assess the state of health in the county.
Gitukia had raised concern over the grabbing of the Shabab Health Centre grounds by a businessman in the area.
“We have reports that they intend to build apartments in the facilities which were meant to improve the livelihoods of the residents,” he said.
Mwaura pointed out that they had started the process of processing title deeds for all their lands.
“We are working with other departments in the county to ensure that we reclaim our land as soon as possible. Majority of the land in the area had been taken by individuals but we are working with the department of lands and finance to ensure that this is made possible,” he added
