Addressing media in Nakuru on Saturday after visiting Nakuru’s Level 5 Hospital where they donated sanitary towels to women and girls at the maternal ward, the Warembo na Uhuru Nakuru branch co-ordinator Grace Wacera Mwaniki said there is need for county government of Nakuru to ensure women and girl child are empowered.

She noted that even in public hospitals, women and girls admitted in various wards are still lacking items such as sanitary towels.

“As Warembo Na Uhuru Nakuru branch we decided to visit the Nakuru PGH to see how the women and girls are fairing on. We have also donated sanitary towels since some of the women and girls admitted are lacking such important items. We also hope the government will support women and girl child when it comes to this” she said.

Wacera also clarified that though the Warembo na Uhuruto is associated with politics, they still have other programs.

“We are not only focusing on hospitals but we are also planning to visit schools in collaboration with the county government of Nakuru to donate the same to girl child as well as empower the school children through various talks. We will also look into the welfare of street children who have no parents” she said.
