Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua graced the opening of a three-day Rift Valley Youth Forum and Exhibition being held at the Afraha Stadium Annex Grounds.
Speaking on Wednesday during the official opening of the forum dubbed Yes Youth Can, Kinuthia reaffirmed his government’s commitment towards empowering the youth and developing programmes aimed at improving their welfare.
“My government is working towards empowering the youths to be the best leaders. We have and we will continue to provide opportunities for the youths to foster growth and independence among all youths across the 11 sub counties,” said Kinuthia.
He also added that his government is working in line with the stipulated national policies and is endeavouring to provide a platform for addressing the challenges facing the youth.
“We are working on putting together measures to meet the needs for enhancing youth empowerment. This will act as a basis to address the challenges facing the youth across the county and the country at large,” he said.
The forum has brought together more than 1000 youths from various counties to address issues affecting them including entrepreneurship, leadership, governance, youth involvement and the constitution.
The Yes Youth Can Programme has been on the fore front in addressing issues that concern the youth, and has managed to strike an immense change in the lives of the youth.
Among other notable personalities who graced the forum include Nakuru County Education CEC Prof Catherine Kitetu, Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto, Governor Simon Kachapin of West Pokot, Cleopas Langat of Nandi County, West Pokot Deputy Governor Titus Lote, and several Nakuru MCAs.
