Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has vowed to work with the private sector to boost development in the county.
Addressing reporters after meeting officials from the Kenya Informal Settlement Project (KISP) at county headquarters on Thursday, Mbugua said that partnering with the private sector will help boost development.
He said that his government is keen to work with the private sector to ensure people’s standards of living are improved.
Mbugua observed that various projects which have been funded jointly by the county government and the private sector are ongoing.
The governor revealed that plans to eradicate slums in Naivasha, Molo, Njoro and sections of Nakuru town are underway.
He said that the government with stakeholders have raised over Sh1. 5 billion to eradicate slums and improve the housing standards of the people.
“We are working on a plan that is aimed at eradicating slums in Nakuru County,” he said.
Mbugua said that his government is keen to boost the living standards of the people and that he will work hard to ensure the same is fulfilled.
The governor said that the planned slum eradication will be completed in the next one and half years.
Mbugua at the same time said that plans to ensure residents have access to clean water are underway.
He observed that the county has been lacking water yet its source to many water bodies.
