Nakuru Governor, Kinuthia Mbugua has welcomed the recently released report by National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) report on employment in counties.
The report showed that employment in counties was biased to dominating ethnic communities in the counties.
Speaking in Nakuru after meeting Turkana professionals on Wednesday, Kinuthia noted that the report will help counties embrace the minority and other vulnerable groups.
The NCIC report handed to TNA chair Johnson Sakaja by the NCIC chair Francis ole Kaparo, indicated that 70% of the counties employ people based on their ethnic background.
Kinuthia admitted that Nakuru has also not fared well putting in mind that it is a multiethnic county but also noted that there is also room for improvement.
“We are working to ensure that all groups in Nakuru are equitably engaged in development and other affairs of managing this county,” said Kinuthia.
Among the top counties that encouraged tribalism in their employment according to the report include Bomet, Nyamira and Kirinyanga.
Marsabit, Tana River and Nairobi counties are the top counties that ensured that there is minimal tribalism in seeking employment.
