A 102-year-old widow and her family in Gilgil is pursuing justice through the National Lands Commission after a private developer allegedly evicted her from a five acre piece of land in Miti Mingi area.
The widow said she has lived in the home for the last 33 years.
Marion Nyokabi, a daughter to the granny, pleaded with the government to act.
The family said the matter was ruled in their favour by after a case was filed.
The family alleged that a private developer is using fake documents to evict them.
"Police have been presiding over recurrent demolitions of houses on the land by hiring young men who have since threatened to kill anyone that stands in the way of the developer," Nyokabi says.
Documents presented by Moses Gitonga, the chairman for Center for Democracy and Good Governance indicate that the family is the legit owner of the disputed land.
The incident comes just a week after Nakuru County`s NLC Secretary Frank Kimbelekenya was charged in court for allegedly receiving a bribe to sell and buy illegal land in the county.
