The Nakuru county  government has constructed 19 health incinerators in the last one year at a cost  of ten million.

Nakuru chief of health Samuel Kingori  said that  the incinerators have been efficient in the getting rid of medical waste.

“We have  new incinerators at Oleguruone, Keringet, Kamara, Arimi, Naesuit, Mwisho wa Llami, Ndege Ndimu, Mbaruk,Karate, Ndabibi, Nyamathi,Bahati, Mogotio and Rongai which will ensure that there is proper dumping of the garbage,” he added.

 Kingori said that the six hospitals, who were behind the illegal dumping of used blood bags and syringes, would

“From our investigations, it is clear that six hospitals, privately owned, could be behind this dumping which is a health hazard and we are pursuing them in a big way,” he said on Tuesday at the site.

He added that the syringes, blood bags among other medical waste were a danger to public health.

“These things that have been dumped here pose a great danger to our lives because we have water that comes from this area and when it rains, it mixes with this waste and if you drink the contaminated water, you will definitely get sick,” said Kingori.
