The Nakuru health task force is expected to release its official report this week on the state of health sector in the county.
According to the task force chair Prof James Tuitoek, their findings will help address the challenges facing the sector.
“We can confidently say as a task force that it has been tiresome but we managed and by the commitments of our government our report should be ready by this week, “ Tuitoek said.
In its preliminary report, the task force has reportedly established that most health facilities in Nakuru County are idle.
He said that they have found out that some facilities built as maternity lack staff and wards.
He said that most of these facilities are those that were built during Kinuthia Mbugua’s administration.
On human resource issues, the taskforce has established that despite good co-operation from health workers, there is an acute shortage of staff to work in the facilities.
According to the task force chairman, most health facilities cannot dispose off expired drugs because they lack incinerators.
The task force was set up my Governor Lee Kinyanjui to look into the challenges facing health sector in Nakuru county and submit a report for action.
