The Nakuru Hospice will on Saturday hold a charity walk to raise funds and create awareness on cancer prevention, detection, treatment and management. The palliative care centre’s founder and Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Ndung’u on Thursday said the annual event will involve several schools in the county, individuals, corporates and business organisations. She was speaking at the centre during the unveiling of the event’s programme. “We will walk and make donations to save the lives of fellow Kenyans. The funds that will be raised will help us continue providing palliative care services to the more than 2,000 patients we are currently supporting. We hope this event will be supported by many in the county for it to succeed,’’ said Ndung’u. The Nakuru County First Lady Lucy Mbugua will be the Chief Guest during the event that is also receiving sponsorship from the Nakuru County Government. Nakuru Hospice is a palliative care centre charity organization that was established in June 2009. It gives services to local people suffering from life threatening illnesses like Cancer and HIV and Aids.
