Talking to this writer in an interview on Wednesday in her office, the founder and Director of the Cancer Centre Elizabeth Ndung’u said that the support from the European Union was as a result of the Hospice’s much spirited community support programmes that have so far attracted numerous support and sponsorships from stakeholders adding that the equipment would increase and expand services at the Centre.

“We continue receiving support and pledges from numerous donors and stakeholders ever since we opened doors to serve cancer patients in this region. We are not surprised because our efforts have been recognised,” said Ndung’u.

She said that the new received equipment from the European Union will help expand the facilities in diagnosing and treating cancer patients at the Care Centre and those we are still being recruited.

Ndung’u observed that Nakuru Hospice and Palliative Centre, the only one in the larger Nakuru County, works in partnership with more than 20 local and international organisations with stakes in health and cancer disease and expressed optimism that the growing support from stakeholders will enable the Centre to open more centres and extension services to cater for cancer related disease victims.
