Nakuru County tourism CeC Edith Kimani says that they are doing this in conjunction with the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) as Nakuru seeks to maintain its best desired tourism destination in Kenya tag.

“For the past six months, we have seen an increase in the number of tourists visiting our parks and lakes. This is an opportunity for us to showcase what we can offer,” Kimani added.

The county executive revealed that Nakuru is a one stop county for all the annual events.

“We want to advertise our county both locally and internationally before the end of the year. We are launching a website that will market our hotels, occasions, products, services and events as well as create more space for investors,” she added.

According to James Kamau Kirubi, a hotel manager in Nakuru, the standardisation will give an equal opportunity for the competitive hotels.

“This is a great opportunity offered by our county in connection with the TRA. We already have the notice and we are ready to cooperate with them to make our hotels an attraction for both locals and foreigners. Our clients will also have a chance to make decisions from the available information,” concluded Kirubi.

After standardisation, a client will be able to book for services online or via phone which will reduce time wastage at the hotel as one waits for services.
