About 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nakuru County went to the streets on Saturday demanding that they be resettled by the government.
Monicah Njeri, an IDP, said they have suffered for long and now want to go back to their normal life like other Kenyans.
Njeri, who lost all her properties and her husband in 2007/08 post-election violence, said she was forcefully evicted from her home in Burnt Forest.
“It is the time for the national government to resettle us. We have suffered too much in the camps. Some of our beloved has died in the camps,” said Njeri.
Mzee Geofry Mirage said the government has 'neglected' them for no reason.
“We are genuine IDPs. We were forcefully evicted from our homes. I lost my older son in the 2007/08 skirmishes,” recalled Mirage.
“The government has neglected us, this is our country and we can’t continue living like this. Just as it did to our colleagues some years back, we too need to be resettled,” he said.
