Speaking with this writer the students said that murder cases have been on rise in the area.

On Sunday, a body of a man was found dumped near the institution creating fear that an unknown gang may be operating in the area.

“Recently a group of students lost their laptops and phones while on that route at 7pm,” said Ben Mokaya, a student.

Mokaya adds that they currently fear to use the route past six oclock in the evening.

The students are now calling on the county government to enhance area security.

“We are appealing to the government to install street lights along the road as it is normally very dark and the gang is taking advatage of the situatiaon,” said Mokaya.

Joseph Maina cited that the police need to intensify patrol in the area as it had been neglected. “We need a police post manned by armed police as it seems the gang is fully armed,” said Maina.

Janet Wanja, a student in the institution, urges government to intesify the security instead of waiting until something bad happens.
