News of the death of former president Mwai Kibaki's wife, Mama Lucy  have not only set a sombre mood to her family but the country as a whole with a section of leaders both from the national and county governments using different platforms to mourn her.

In Nakuru County, things were no different with several leaders taking to their official social media pages to extend their condolences to the Kibaki family. 

Bahati member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri described the late Lucy as a strong lady, a fighter and one with a forgiving heart.

"My most sincere condolences go to the former President Mwai Kibaki and his entire family at this very difficult moment," he wrote on his Facebook page. 

His Molo counterpart Jacob Macharia described the death as shocking and a loss to the nation as a whole.

"On behalf of Molo constitutes, myself and my family, I pass my message of condolence to the family of former first lady, friends, relatives and Kenya at large. May her soul rest in peace," he wrote. 

County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika noted that she had lost a mother, mentor and role model who had transformed the lives of many Kenyans. 

"I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt deepest condolences to the family of His Excellency former president Mwai Kibaki, friends of the family and Kenya at large," she said.

"She was a strong woman who worked tirelessly to empower Kenyan women and the entire nation through many generations. In her death, we should ensure that the values she held close continue to be advanced," she added. 

 Mama Lucy died on Tuesday while receiving treatment in at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.
