Nakuru leaders on Wednesday put aside their political differences and joined hands in eulogizing the late Inspector John Maina Waweru during his burial ceremony held at Nyandarua Progressive Farm Solai, Rongai sub-county.
The late Inspector Waweru till his death was head of crime in Gilgil sub-county.
Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika shared a podium despite sources having it that the two leaders have a bone of contention Over governance issues in the county.
In his tribute to the late, Governor Mbugua, a former AP commandant who happened to have taught the fallen at Embakasi AP College, said Nakuru county and the nation had lost an intelligent officer.
"Inspector Waweru was gifted in Intelligence gathering and I remember when I wanted to quit as AP commandant to run for gubernatorial seat, he told me to give him time so that he can come to Nakuru and investigate what the people on ground do say,"said Mbugua.
Mbugua urged everyone to emulate the goodness of the late Waweru assuring the family that his government will give any support needed.
On her part, Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika termed the late as hardworking.
"When I look in the life of the late Waweru I can only see one thing and that is the fruits of hardwork,"she said.
Kihika called on everyone in society to ensure they emulate the good spirit of hard work for a progressive society.
Regional AP commandant Francis Kirathe also urged parents and everyone in society to ensure they play their role in ensuring security.
Others who uologized the late included DCIO Gilgil Joseph Owiti, OCPD Gilgil Sarah Koki, AP commandant Gilgil Charles Mbatu, Solai MCA Chebor among other leaders.
The late Inspector John Waweru is survived by a widow, a daughter (Police officer) and 3 sons, one of them a blogger(Kelvin Waweru a.k.a Kel Wesh).
He was officer head of crime at Gilgil.
