Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said the acquittal is not their individual victory but the victory of the people of Nakuru and the people of Kenya at large.

“More importantly to the people of Nakuru and the country at large for being patient, kept peace and remained united, because the case had the potential of dividing the people of this county and country.”

“The perpetrators are yet to be brought to book. Let’s all continue praying for healing and ensure that justice for the victims is fulfilled,” he added.

Nakuru Senator James Mungai said the termination of the cases has come as a relief to Nakuru in particular.

“The ruling is as a great significance to the people of Nakuru considering that we had resolved top maintain peace hence the ruling will pave way for deepening of peace and reconciliation in the county,” he added.

Mungai said the ruling is a crown to the “TNA and URP marriage at Afraha “ where they sought to bring unity and peace in the country.

Nakuru Speaker Susan Kihika commended the DP for his commitment to the rule of law and his humility to subject himself to the ICC process with the hope that justice will be served.

“As the people of Nakuru and as Kenyans were rejoice that the withdrawal signals a close to a dark chapter in our history,” she said in a statement.
