The learned friends embarked on a nationwide protest against the killing of Kimani, who was killed in the line of his duty.

Led by Law Society of Kenya branch chairman Francis Mwangi, the lawyers condemned the killing of Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri and asked police inspector general Joseph Boinnet to relinquish his post immediately.

The lawyers accused the police of having a hand in the extrajudicial killings of lawyers in the country.

Three police officers suspected to have been involved were arraigned in court on Monday and will remain in custody for 14 days for investigations to be concluded.

The bodies of the slain were found in a river in Ol Donyo Sabuk, Machakos county, last Thursday.

Mwangi called for the immediate resignation of Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet for failing to protect Kenyans.
