Just 2 days after a section of residents from western region residing in Nakuru declared their support for Jubilee, Luhya leaders in Nakuru have denied the claims that they had defected to the ruling party and that the Mulembe community was solidly in National Super Alliance (NASA).

Addressing media in Nakuru on Wednesday, Abeneza Mukhaywa who is a Luhya leader and ANC coordinator in the Nakuru region rubbished the claims saying that the Luhya community had agreed to vote as a block and they would vote in NASA come August 8th.

‘’We had agreed as Luhya community that we would vote NASA, we have no plans to shift. We are in NASA to stay, those were just brokers who were soliciting money from jubilee” said Mukhaywa.

According to Mukhwaya, the Luhya community has never made a resolution of joining hands with jubilee but wanted to live harmoniously with the other communities in the region.

Earlier this week a group of people purporting to be leaders from the Luhya community said that the Luhya community in Nakuru had defected to jubilee party and would support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Led by John Amukoye, they stated that their reason for defecting were that a section of people within NASA were short changing them and therefore they were not able to participate in the party activities.

However, the Luhya leaders termed the incident as insightful and that Mr Amukoye had no mandate to represent or speak on behalf of Luhya in Nakuru.
