Samuel Waithuki says that the ruling was inappropriate and against the basic norms of teh country.

"I strongly urge the High Court to rethink the ruling. Kenya is a God fearing country and such things should not be allowed to take place here. We cannot just sit back and allow such groups to be registered since we all know that it is very wrong," Waithuki said.

The ruling which was made last Monday by the High Court Judges George Odunga, Isaac Lenaola and Mumbi Ngugi allowed the lesbians and the gay people to come together and form a group which will be representing them in matters affecting them.

Waithuki, who was speaking yesterday in Nakuru Town, urged the High Court not to make rulings to please Americans especially President Barack Obama who is expected to tour the country in July.

"Our country Kenya should avoid emulating all the things which come from the western countries. We are a country with our own traditions and norms and we should work hard to ensure that we strengthen and abide by them," Waithuki said.

He urged all parents to protect their children from joining such groups.
