A man was on Monday sentenced to 2 years in jail by a Nakuru court for stealing money and milk from his employer.
Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo gave the judgement after Samuel Kariuki, 26, pleaded guilty to stealing Sh37,000 and 10 litres of milk from his employer Esther Wangari.
In his ruling, Mararo said stealing is a serious and irresponsible act.
Kariuki, allegedly stole the money on April 11, 2016 after he was told to pay his boss' milk distributor, but he decided to vanish with the money.
“She had not paid me so I decided to take the money,” he told the court
He then fled using a motorbike which he later dumped at a motorbike repair center and sold the milk.
The matter was reported to Bahati police station and Kariuki was apprehended on December 17.
The court said that he had 14 days to appeal.
