A 95-year-old man who has been living in a tree trunk along the Nakuru-Nyahururu highway for the past four years has found a new home.
The man named Njuguna Ng’ang’a was taken to a shelter for the elderly in Nakuru County after the intervention of Nakuru county government through the directorate of Social Services Wesley Kipng’ok and Kiamaina MCA Samwel Kamau.
The old man could not hide his joy as he was ushered in the new home which is also home to seven other elderly persons that were neglected by their families.
"I have been living in this tree trunk for the past four years. I will be very happy in my new home. My family lives in Kiambu and they know that I am here," said the old man.
According to area residents, they have been helping the old man with food and other items.
"We have stayed with this old man for a long time and he has been having a lot of problems. At times he got sick but God healed him," Margaret Wambui said.
