Speaking during the launch of the National Adolescents and Youth Survey at a Nakuru hotel on Tuesday, the official said the government is keen to empower marginalised groups.

He said that marginalised groups have an opportunity to better their lives through government development initiatives.

“Young people, women and persons living with disability should take advantage of the initiatives the government is taking to better their lives,” said Kamanda.

The Director noted that there are a low number of tender applications being made by youths and disabled persons.

“Despite the government initiative to allocate 30 per cent of tenders to youths and disabled persons, the number of applications is very low,” he said.

Kamanda stated that it is a requirement for every county government to adhere to the 30 per cent tender directive.

The official said the government will roll out more programmes meant to empower marginalised groups.

He said that empowering of marginalised groups will be a platform for realisation of socio-economic development.
