An MCA in Nakuru has advised the CORD opposition leader to ignore calls by a section of the coalition leaders to run for the Homa Bay Senate seat left vacant by the death of Otieno Kajwang.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Friday, Nakuru County minority leader and Kaptembwa Ward Member of Assembly representative Daniel Ambale observed that the Cord leader who lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta in presidential elections in 2013 should not degrade himself by going for the senate seat.
According to the MCA, Raila is playing his role as the country’s opposition leader well as he prepares to challenge Jubilee coalition in the next elections.
He said by running for the senate seat, the Cord leader would compromise his presidential ambitions arguing that the most important thing for him to do now is to strengthen his party and coalition ahead of 2017 elections.
“I find it rather ridiculous for some leaders to try and mislead the Cord leader to vie for the vacant seat. It is not worth it given his huge role as the key opposition leader in the country.
"I would advise him to concentrate on strengthening his party and the opposition and support another candidate in the party for the post,’’ said Ambale.
