A Nakuru MCA has called upon the Government to assist the elderly in society.
Speaking to this writer on Monday in an exclusive interview, Kivumbini MCA Vitalis Okello said many elderly people are languishing in poverty and there is need for the Government to ensure their welfare.
He said despite the Government setting aside funds for the elderly, mechanisms should be put in place to ensure the elderly benefit from the funds.
"We are aware the government set some funds for the elderly but still the mechanism is still wanting with many elderly still not benefiting from the funds,"said MCA Okello.
He said he will push to ensure the Alms Home for the elderly in Kivumbini Ward is well considered in terms of the elderly welfare.
It will be noted that the government has been in the process of ensuring good welfare for the elderly. A special fund was set up towards the same.
