Kabazi ward MCA Dr Peter Mbae has strongly opposed the Muran’ga Senator Irungu Kang’ata’s County Wards Development Equalization Bill, 2018, terming it as a populist agenda.
The Bill seeks to promote equitable development across the country, through a uniform development kitty for each ward to run specific projects by allowing wards to receive 15 million shillings.
However according to MCA Mbae, the amount is quite less and cannot solve the problems of the people on the ground.
“I think that Bill is populist and cannot solve the problems of the people on the ground and therefore we cannot celebrate such a bill,” he said.
He said a county like Nakuru has wards that are big and therefore the 15 million shillings cannot be of benefit to them.
The vocal MCA said they will continue to work with Nakuru county executive to ensure allocations towards development.
This comes barely a day after Nakuru County assembly passed the Nakuru county revenue allocation Bill that seeks to ensure mechanisms for the allocation of funds in various wards for development.
