Nakuru County Assembly Majority Leader Waithuke Njane now wants the government to speed up the process of repossessing grabbed public land as promised.
Waithuke who led other MCAs yesterday in issuing the statement at the Nakuru County Assembly after meeting the National Land Commission Chairman Mohammed Swazuri, said that land problem has been a biting issue in the county.
Waithuke also called for a speedy resolve of Chepakundi Scheme land.
"Land issue has even caused war in the county and that is why we would want the matter solved once and for all. Chepakundi scheme land is a matter that we would like to see solved immediately because the residents have even petitioned the county assembly," said Waithuke.
Waithuke has said that the real owners of Chepakundi with real title deeds were evicted from the land and cannot be allowed to go back there.
He noted that it was painful for people who had land to continue living in shanties as IDPs while their land continues to benefit other people.
"Let the NLC do justice to those whose lands were grabbed unfairly," he said.
