Nakuru County Assembly Majority leader Samuel Waithuki has urged members of the county assembly to work on addressing the issues facing the people at the grassroots.
Addressing the press in Naivasha town on Friday, Mr Waithuki asked MCAs to put the interest of the people first before anything else.
He said that MCAs were elected and nominated to ensure people's concerns at the grassroots are heard and addressed adding that there is no need for leaders to engage in politics of hate at the expense of providing services to the people.
“Members of County Assembly should be at the forefront in ensuring locals' concerns at the grassroots are addressed,” he said.
Waithuku noted that the county government has set aside enough funds to propel development in all wards across the county. He asked MCAs to support the county development initiatives through formulation of proper legislations.
“We should focus on drafting and implementing laws that will add value to the lives of the people,” he said.
He added that leaders have a responsibility to unite the people they serve and not perpetuate hate politics that may propel animosity among residents.
Mr Waithuki asked locals to come out and express their concerns and issues facing them to enable the government tackle them accordingly.
