Nakuru MCAs have refused to go on recess until they get car loans and house mortgages amounting to Sh5 million each.
The loan is to be processed by Family bank.
According to the Star, majority of the MCAs wanted the car loans and house mortgages without giving any security.
Nakuru county Assembly leader of Majority Stanley Karanja proposed a two-month recess but the MCAs said they did not have enough money and cars to tour their wards.
Subukia's MCA Mary Waiganjo noted most of them did not have vehicles since the loans had not been processed. The debate generated mixed reactions from members, forcing speaker Joel Maina to adjourn the session for 15 minutes.
When the session resumed, the Speaker said a substantive motion will be presented and the matter of going on recess debated.
The ward representatives are to break from December 7 to February 13.Tinet ward MCA David Malel said that the House cannot go to recess as this will mean a dry spell for members, especially during this festive season.
Soin's Irene Chebichi supported the motion saying even if members remained at the House, they will not be entitled to allowances since they were scrapped by the SRC.
