Two Nakuru MCAs, arrested alongside seven other suspects over tresspass in a controversial land in Bahati on Tuesday, will on Wednesday morning be arraigned before a Nakuru court to answer to charges of being in possession of dangerous weapons and trespass.

The two legislators Peter Njoroge of Biashara ward and Wilbur Onyango of Kivumbini ward were arrested at Ampiva farm that is at the centre of controversy between over 500 members of Jumaa farmers company and Njuguna Mwaura Mbogo.

According to Nakuru North OCPD Edward wafula, following leaflets of incitement which were dropped few days ago within Subukia and Solai trading centre warning certain community to vacate the area, on Tuesday police officers got a tip off that there were certain people holding an illegal meeting at Ampiva farm.

“After a tip off, police officers rushed to the scene and ordered them to disperse peacefully but instead, they started shouting, chanting abusive slogans and throwing stones at the officers,” said the OCPD.

Others who were arrested include Christopher Kenduiywa, Peter Gachoka Kuria, Victor Kamau , Joseph Njuguna, Robert Munala , John Ndwiga and Peter Karori .

All the suspects spent the night at Bahati police station.

Several weapons including machetes were recovered during the operation.
