All Members of County Assembly have a responsibility of ensuring proper and adequate El Nino preparedness in their wards as the county continues to experience above normal rainfall for the past few days.

Speaking at the Assembly headquarters earlier Friday, Visoi MCA Edward Gitau who has been tasked to chair a committee constituted by the county assembly to oversee all El Nino mitigation issues, said all MCAs have a responsibility of ensuring safety for their residents.

“All of us could not be within this committee, nevertheless, let’s work hand in hand in ensuring that our people are not hit hard by the effects of El Nino,” he said.

He expressed his commitment as the chairperson saying the county had also enacted a good team on the ground and there should be nothing to worry about.

“Both arms of the county government are ready; it’s now upon the people of Nakuru to avail reliable information on time for proper action to be taken. Don’t wait until it’s too late then start accusing the government of ignorance,” he noted.

Some parts of the county are already experiencing huge amounts of rainfall that is affecting their day to day activities with the most recent case being in Bahati constituency on Wednesday where Governor Kinuthia Mbugua was forced to end his developmental projects tour prematurely after the rains became unbearable.
