Event organizers of the National Youth week that took place last year in September held a demonstration on Monday claiming an outstanding debt of over Sh 4 million from Nakuru County Government for the event.
They converged at the county offices headquarters where they demanded to be paid their dues for the event which they organized in September 2015 for the county government.
Speaking after staging a demonstration, the contractors led by Susan Mzame of Rift Events, Benson Ngobia of Bensas Investments and Mureithi Ben of Peshmae Limited said the county government owes them Sh1.9 million, Sh670,000 and Sh1.2 million respectively, but only a quarter of the total amount for the events has been paid .
They also accused the county government’s CEC in charge of finance Ann Njenga of lack of commitment in clearing the debt.
Efforts to reach the county government officials were futile.
