Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama has denied claims of mismanaging the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) and favouring some wards in terms of projects development.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Arama refuted the claims, saying that they are malicious and meant to tarnish his name.
The MP accused some politicians of being behind the allegations, saying that he will not be shaken by people who are envy of his development.
“It is not true that I have mismanaged CDF funds or favoured any one in terms of development,” he said.
A section of Kapkarus village residents in the constituency allege that Arama has embezzled funds that were meant for development of the area.
The locals further accused the MP of neglecting the area and that no single project is going on in the area.
The residents who have since sought the services of a lawyer to start the removal of Arama from office said the MP no longer considers their interests.
“Mr Arama must explain on where the funds allocated to this village in the CDF kitty went,” said a local who sought to remain anonymous.
Arama asked anyone with information on the said claims to present it to the police and stop spreading ‘malicious rumours’.
The lawmaker said that he has put in place strategies meant to ensure that all people in the constituency benefits. Arama urged residents to be patient noting that most of the projects being implemented are long term and will be realised after some time.
He added that plans are underway to renovate and repair all roads connecting the constituency with other towns and estates.
“Residents should be patient as we work out modalities to address the problems facing them,” he said.
