Muslim community living in Nakuru town has called on the incoming leaders of Nakuru County to ensure their incorporation in political issues of the county.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the Muslim community led by their leaders blamed a section of the incumbent Nakuru leaders for sidelining them in matters of politics and development of Nakuru County.

According to Sheikh Hamisi Nasoro, Muslim community in Nakuru County has over the years been neglected when it comes to political matters.

"It is so sad that in all previous governments we have never been involved in the county leadership. It is for this reason that we call upon the incoming leaders to ensure that we are part of the government,” said Nasoro.

The cleric added that despite their participation in nominations and election of political leaders, the community has not in any time been directly involved in the leadership of the county.

The leaders also appealed to the Government of the day to ensure that issues to do with tenders in the counties are issued out fairly without discrimination.

“Let the Governmnet be fair in issuing out tenders so that we can also feel the fruits and ensure our economic growth,” said Nasoro.

On his part, former Nakuru Councilor Issah Gichangi called on the Jubilee Party to ensure the law is followed in issuing out certificates and anyone found to have contravened the law should not be handed the certificate.
