Scores of Muslims from Nakuru County have joined their fellow Muslims in the country in preparations for the journey to Mecca for Hajj.
Muslims make the pilgrimage to Mecca whenever they can and it is one of the pillars of faith in Islam.
Juma Hussein, the chairman of Nakuru Muslims Association (NMA) says that a large number of Muslims from the county have shown interest in the journey to Mecca.
“The association has received a large number of Muslims willing to travel to the Holy City for the annual Hajj Pilgrimage. Travelling to Mecca is a religious obligation for all Muslims,” said Hussein.
He added: “The Hajj Pilgrimage is an important calendar in Islamic religion because the participant is close to God. Muslims who participate seek God’s guidance and forgiveness,” said Hussein.
This writer witnessed the flocking of Muslim faithful to Hussein’s office in Nakuru Town as he paid him a courtesy call. Those who were going to the office were registering for the pilgrimage.
Hussein said, “We want to travel in a group because the holy gathering will attract Muslims from all over the world. That is why I am emphasising on groups which will work better.”
He urged the Muslim fraternity who are financially able to honour the pilgrimage saying that as soon as the preparations are done, the team will depart.
Travelling to Mecca is an important pillar in Islam which every Muslim is expected to achieve at least once in their lifetime.
