Just two days after a task force was formed to look into health sector issues in Nakuru, Nurses in Nakuru have vowed not to be divided in their push for Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed.

According to the more than 1,200 nurses under the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), they negotiated the 2013 CBA as a union and that Council of Governors (GOG) should push for its signing.

“The nurses will report to work after the CBA is signed by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)” said the county Secretary General Syprene Odera.

She added that nurses are willing to work together with respective county leaders to restore sanity in the health sector that has in the past faced numerous strikes.

This even as the nurses have paralyzed services in all public hospitals in the country making it difficult for doctors and clinical officers to perform major operations.

If affected, each nurse will receive risk allowance of Sh15, 000 monthly and Sh20, 000 nursing service allowance.

It should be noted that the CBA is supposed to be signed by Council of Governors and SRC for its implementation by respective county governments.

Julius Nyambake, member of the union on his part said currently, medical students, and clinical officers are manning hospitals.

He accused the government of failing to find an amicable solution and that political leaders entrusted to ensure Kenyans receive quality health services concentrate with campaigns.
