Nakuru ODM officials were on Tuesday arraigned and charged in a Nakuru court with destruction of property in an attempt to storm the IEBC offices in the town.

Denis Okomol, Shem Osiago, Peter Gitari and Josephat Nyakundi were arrested by Flying Squad officers Monday as they led Cord demonstrators to the IEBC offices from Nakuru West demanding for reforms.

By a show of might, the accused were represented in court by five lawyers led by council David Mongeri. They denied the charges.

They are accused of destruction of property at Kaptembwa area in Nakuru County and leading a group of rowdy youths to evict the county IEBC branch officials forcefully.

The defense team led by Mongeri, urged the court to release his clients on grounds that offence is bailable and that the prosecution does not have enough facts on the matter.

Principal Magistrate Benard Mararo released the suspects on a Sh10,000 bond each  or a cash bail of Sh5,000 each.

The case will be heard on July 18.
