Most parents in Nakuru town have expressed their satisfaction with the manner in which Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi is steering the ministry.
In an interview with on Thursday, the parents lauded Matiangi for walking the talk on education reforms and cracking the whip on errant school heads.
"I am very much impressed with Mr Matiangi for visiting schools unannounced and finding out about the state of affairs in such schools. He has really improved matters especially in terms of management," David Gisesa a parent, said.
To Andrew Tuwei, had President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Matiangi early enough then the Education Ministry would be miles ahead by now.
"I think I like his style of doing things. Had he been appointed to this ministry long enough then we could have been quite far by now," he said.
Matiangi who took over from Jacob Kaimenyi after a cabinet reshuffle late last year began duty with a lot of zeal and has visited quite a number of schools some of them impromptu to inspect on the state of learning in such schools.
"I believe the education ministry has landed the right man for the job. He is steering it to the right direction," Nelson Gituku added.
Matiangi who is the former CS for Information and Lands was in the county over the week.
