Nakuru County Parliamentary Group has demanded a Cabinet Secretary slot in the looming cabinet reshuffle and appointments, citing sideline from the government.
The PG led by Subukia MP Nelson Gaichuhie accused the government of ignoring them in the recent parastatal appointments.
“We are aware there is a looming cabinet reshuffle and appointments of new Cabinet Secretaries and as Nakuru leaders we are demanding a slot for our unwavering support of the government.” Gaichuhie said.
He added that, the recent parastatal appointments were skewed and Nakuru was bypassed urging the appointing authority to consider the County in the next appointments.
“We have several parastatals ranging from Geothermal Development Company (GDC), Pyrethrum Board of Kenya (PBK); KenGen among others but no C.E.O., or chairman comes from the County we have to be considered.” Gaichuhie added.
The leaders indicated they are firmly in government and supports its projects but called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to stamp authority and tame insecurity.
Njoro legislator Joseph Kiuna said that, the state of killings and attacks in North Rift region was alarming and quick action should be taken to avert it from spreading to other Counties.
“We want the government to work in haste and salvage that region which is almost collapsing over bandits killings.” He added.
Nakuru PG includes ODM Nakuru Town West legislator Samuel Arama (Treasurer), Nominated Senator Liza Chelule (Vice Chairperson), John Kihagi (Secretary), and other elected leaders as members.
