Police in Nakuru yesterday shot dead a suspected robber in Nakuru town and his accomplice escaped with gunshot wounds in a botched robbery.
According to Nakuru police boss Benard Kioko, who confirmed the incident, the suspects were on a mission to commit a robbery when they were accosted by armed officers following a tip off from the members of the public.
“The two were riding on a motorcycle when police confronted them,” the OCPD said.
“The passenger jumped and started running, prompting the police to open fire on them. The rider of the motorcycle escaped with gunshot wounds.”
Mr Kioko said the robber gunned down in the incident was only identified as Sammy Nesta.
Police have launched investigations and are following crucial leads to arrest the other suspect who fled, Kioko added.
This comes barely a week after Mr Kioko led another operation on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway that led to the killing of two suspected robbers.
