Independent investigations have shown that gangs are having a field day in Nakuru.
As residents resign to the fate of these dangerous criminal gangs, police are largely clueless or accomplices.
The worst hit areas are slums such as Bonde, Kivumbini, Lake View, Kaloleni, Kaptembwa, Kwa Rhonda and Ngomongo where marauding gangs rob residents and show them the middle finger!
“These boys you are seeing here are dangerous criminals who rob you at will. They do it in broad day light and tell you to go to hell. It is either they are working with the police or police fear them, full stop,” George Obade told this writer.
The criminals are youths ranging from 14 years to late 20’s.Their starter pack is a pair of jeans, trendy t-shirts and sports shoes or loafers.
They also sport a bling and chew Moguka.
Though the police would not admit they are accomplices or have slept on the job, residents want a reshuffle done to transfer police officers who are ‘friendly’ to the gangs.
“Just do this, walk around and ask like three people about these criminals. People will tell you the number of times they have reported cases at Bondeni police station but no action has been taken,” Elijah Kimani said.
He added: “All these police (at Bondeni police station) should be transferred.”
