A Nakuru based political activist James Kaka has urged Nakuru residents to petition Jubilee government to take action towards solving high cost of living.

Kaka said the rising cost of living is a threat to social stability and calls for an urgent attention from the government.

Addressing a section of Nakuru residents at Teachers estate during a public forum he organized on Thursday Kaka said the high levels of poverty is threatening to cause instability in the country.

He noted that majority of Kenyans no longer afford basic needs like sufficient food and health care due to the sky rocketing of food prices and medical expenses.

According to the political aspirant, the Jubliee Government should recollect its economic and social security pledges and solve the current economic crisis in the country.

At the same time, the political aspirant who unsuccessfully vied for the Menengai Ward County Assembly in the last general elections condemned high-level of corruption by government officials and the misuse of public funds on unnecessary expenditures.

“I am afraid to say here that as the situation stands now, Kenyans are being pushed to the worst of poverty levels in the history of our country. There is definitely something wrong and something needs to be done by our government,” said Kaka.

He noted that for the government to solve the incessant rising high cost of living, it must fight corruption. He at the same time encouraged the youth to make necessary social change adjustments in their lives to cope with the prevailing hard times.

“Most of our youth cannot afford to marry and raise families. They cannot afford basic needs in life good housing, food and entertainment. That is why they are hooked to drugs and cheap alcoholic brands consumption. No one can really blame them but they should not let the situation sink them to the graves,’’ said Kaka.
