Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has commended efforts his government has made in transforming the Nakuru Polytechnic and giving it a face-lift which has seen the institution offer quality and dignified training to youth.
According to Mbugua, the institution has now gained a positive image from the public who viewed it as a place for academic failures.
"This has changed within three years after the county government took over management of the institution following the adoption of the devolution system which placed the responsibility of running polytechnics on the shoulders of the county governments. It is through this that now the polytechnic offers 12 new courses to equip young people with enough skills which are in great demand in the job market," Mbugua stated.
The county boss who paid visited the polytechnic on Wednesday to commission the refurbishment work also urged parents to enroll their children in the institution since the government is more than ready to support their studies.
"My government is ready extend its bursary support to all polytechnics in the region in order to give the youth opportunity to get necessary skills that will help them employable and at the same time build their capacity for self-employment," Mbugua further explained.
The county boss further affirmed his government’s commitment in fulfilling promises especially in the education sector something he said they are on their way to accomplishing.
